BASIC HEALTH CARE SUPPORT

TRAINING PROGRAMME TO ICDS WORKER

We  conducted  one  training  program  with  sixty  five participants  at  Dhananjoy  villa  for AWW  to  upgrade their  skill  for  improvement  of  primary  education  and simultaneously  improvement  of  the  skill  to  reduce malnourishment. ICDS personnel are working but they require more training so that their knowledge in respect of  malnutrition  and  also  for  preprimary  education  is upgraded though periodical Training Programme.

EARLY DETECTION CAMP ON CERVICAL CANCER

Cancer  is  a  serious  problem  in  India. As  per  WHOs' statement ,  within 2025 one cancer patient will be found in every five family. Realizing the gravity of the problem we  have  started  Early  Detection  Camp  On  Cervical Cancer in collaboration with&

IDENTIFIED GAPS OF ICDS & SUB CENTER

We Identified the gaps in the functioning of ICDS in respect of   spot feeding,   mothers' meeting,  preprimary education  & also in the functioning  of  Sub  center  relating  to

irregular medicine supply, improper   health education and home delivery etc. ICDS made effort to minimize the gaps and the shortfall with  active  collaboration  of  VHC  and  all stake holders .ICDS also formed monitoring team to strengthen functioning of the centers.

We  have  taken  initiative  to  strengthen VHSNC for the purpose of better health services & Making health plan a regular practice  with  the  support  of  govt.  We organized  one  day  training  with  75 participants from PRI, ASHA, VHC and others to Strengthen VHSNC for better health services at grassroots level.

TRAINING TO COMMUNITY MONITORING TEAM

We have formed seven monitoring teams comprising of the areas -Pukurberia- Pukuberia West, Pukuberia East, Kamdebpur, Asubabur chak, Mainapara,Samanterchak) and capacitated  them with the know how of govt. health sevices & schemes. They are now monitoring services of ICDS  and  Sub  center, ARI  with  special  emphasis  on Breast feeding Diarrhea, Health fund etc.  The services of ICDS & Sub center have now improved.

 

ACHIEVEMENT

•   Two  VHCs  took  responsibility  of  organizing Health  Camp  on  eye  and  sugar  testing;  41 participated in eye camps & 37 in testing of sugar.

•   VHC  and  CHC  were  empowered  to  organize  Awareness Meting and Advocacy Meeting.

•   Awareness Camps were organized for the children who  have  been  identified  as  malnourished,  32 children improved their growth with the support of this  program  through  treatment,  medicines  & supplementary food.

•   Some  of  the  SHGs  took  leading  role  in  Social Changes in our area, like – they have demolished the country-liquor shops of the villages, they took role  in  anti-trafficking  &  early  marriage,  home delivery etc.

•   Based  on  the  good  performance  in  the  existing areas of operation, there developed a local demand to provide similar service to another Villages / GP of Kakdwip Block by PRI members, Health service providers, ICDS workers etc.

SCOPE FOR FUTURE ACTIVITIES

• Support  to  Adolescent  to  develop  and  improve  their leadership qualities.

• Educational support to School going children and  IGP for School dropout  adolescent

• Formation of separate CBOs for Adolescent

• Promotion of Low cost water purifier.

• Prevention  and  control  of  Diabetics  specially  for  young adults

• Capacity  building  of  local  people  on  National  Disease control  Program  like  Tuberculosis,  Blindness  control Program, Leprosy, Iodine deficiency, NCD etc.

HEALTH SAVINGS

Promotion of Health Savings concept is started in SHGs under Basic Health Care Programme in 2013- 14.  There are 21 SHGs who are practicing Health Savings  along  with  other  SHG  activities  in  our project area.  It is getting popular and beneficial for SHG members.
