Hon'ble President, respected members of the Governing Body, distinguished guests, patrons, stake holders and well- wishers. I feel it a dignity to present the Annual Report of IITD for the year 2015-16. To start with I convey my gratitude to all concerned for their constant support, guidance and inspiration throughout our prolonged journey for 32 years of many activities for the society. The pioneering project of 'WS-W2D' initiated by the IITD has attained a glorious achievement. The project aims at providing safe drinking water by installation of Tube wells in some villages of Sagar, Namkhana, Patharpatima and Kakdwip Blocks ensuring ownership concept of the beneficiaries themselves who are virtually the owners of the tube wells. The management, both financial and physical of the tube wells rests with the Tubewell Management Committee. The committee collected total amount of Rs.7,65,514/- by which they take care of the tube wells of their own. The Self Help Groups (SHGs) formed by IITD have mobilized fund of Rs. 72,96,973/- for supporting the needy women in emergency and also for starting new economic activities. Earning from small economic activities like goatery, poultry, tailoring, jute works, fisheries and agriculture have improved economic status of our community people. Two project reports Swavolamban and "STEP" have been submitted to Government grant of fund to render training to the women folk for the better sustainable lively hood. IITD is also providing health care services comprising of sanitation, prevention of diseases, MCH, family welfare, malnutrition, immunization, d e t e c t i o n o f c e r v i c a l c a n c e r , gynecological services and awareness etc. in 83 villages of Kakdwip Block with the direct support of Govt. Health Department and Govt. health service providers such as ANMs, ASHA, ANWs erc. IITD is implementing HIV/AIDS prevention and control project for commercial sex workers supported by WBSAP&CS in three blocks of Kakdwip subdivision. It merits mention that model of IITD has been applauded and replicated in Murshidabad and Jalpaiguri by WBVHA. IITD is pioneer in providing training; it imparts training for improving knowledge and skill, competency and capacity building, effectiveness in management and creating professional outlook. The eco-friendly training centre of IITD and infrastructure attracts the trainees and trainers. It has emerged as a popular and much talked about training centre among the NGOs, c o r p o r a t e h o u s e s a n d G o v t . departments. The training division is equipped with eminent trainers drawn from NGOs, management institutes, corporate houses, financial institutes etc. Another feather on the cap of IITD is IITD has established an English medium coeducational school named Ideal Mission School in 2010. I am delighted to say by this time the school has earned reputation and popularity among the people of the locality. It gives me immense pleasure to inform the house that we have participated in a s e m i n a r o r g a n i z e d b y N C R I , Hyderabad; another research paper on 'Sanitation Programmes of Rural West Bengal; ACase Study by IITD' has been accepted by NIRD, Hyderabad for presentation. The continued support, suggestions and guidance will lead us to better tomorrow. I pray for good health, happiness and prosperity of all directly and indirectly associated with us.
